Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Files Notice of Intent for Oklahoma Rate Adjustment
While Oklahoma Natural Gas filed a recent rate hike request with Oklahoma regulators, so did another gas supplier in the state.
Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation, headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas and providing service to nearly 60,000 customers in the two states, recently filed a Notice of Intent with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. It intends to seek an adjustment of its rates, charges, tariffs and Terms and Conditions of Service for its “Oklahoma jurisdiction customers on or about May 1, 2026.”
Filing Targets Performance Base Rate
Details of the impact were not revealed as the company won’t file its official or formal request for a few more months. But as the filing indicated, its request will involve its annual Performance Base Rate. It is also hoping for a final order from the Commission no later than 180 days after the date of the filing of the application.
The Performance Base Rate mechanism is commonly used by regulated utilities to adjust rates based on factors including return on equity, cost of service, infrastructure investment, and operational expenses. Just as ONG’s rate hike request referred to its return on equity and cost of service, Arkansas Oklahoma Gas intends to do the same.
The filing sets the stage for what could become another closely watched utility rate case before state regulators in 2026, as energy providers continue to navigate infrastructure upgrades, commodity price fluctuations, and regulatory oversight.
Current Oklahoma Residential and Business Rates
As the company’s website showed, the average residential customer charge per month in Oklahoma is $15.65.

The forthcoming formal application will provide greater detail regarding how those base charges and delivery components could change under the proposed adjustment. Until then, the Notice of Intent signals the beginning of the regulatory process for Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation’s Oklahoma customers.
